Credentials:  I have Master's degrees in both Psychology and Counseling.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).  I hold a certificate in AutPlay, which focuses on providing a neurodivergent affirming approach to care.  I have 10+ years experience working in Community Counseling and School Counseling at both the Elementary and Middle school level.

Method:  I use a humanistic approach, where adults trust that children will communicate and explore their experiences best when they receive empathy and unconditional positive regard.  Children are allowed to lead the process rather than the parent/therapist trying to direct it. Carefully used reflections help gain a better understanding of the child's inner world.  Communication with parents is often and provides insights and suggestions on how to support your child.  I do also use an integrated approach, so when appropriate more directive techniques may be used.

Personal:  I have visited with a counselor numerous times over my life and believe we should regularly attend to and care for our mental health.  It's OK to get some support and guidance when we need it.

I have been with my spouse for 30 years.  We have one adopted child. I identify as she/her and 'neurosparkly'.  I enjoy time with my family, being outside, gardening flowers, and traveling.  Fun fact:  I love sweets, but am not a huge fan of chocolate bars.
